Distracted driving is a deadly reality. More than 32,000 people died in crashes involving distracted drivers from 2013-2022, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In 2022 alone, nearly 290,000 people were injured in accidents with distracted drivers.

HARMAN Automotive Engineering Services (AES) is now a Google-Accredited Third-party Logistics (3PL) lab partner for Google Automotive Services (GAS) Pre-certification testing. This complements our existing accreditation as 3PL for Android Auto Projection (AAP) Pre-Certification.

The automotive industry is undergoing a major transformation, fueled in general by advancements in technology, electric vehicles, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI). Vehicles are becoming smarter and more connected and the software running these systems is playing an increasingly critical role. According to a report by Statista, the global connected car market is expected to reach $192 billion by 2028 with a compound annual growth rate of 17%. By 2030, 90% of all new cars will have internet access. Pervasive connectivity, when paired with automotive consumer demands for personalization and the car manufacturers' desire to generate recurring revenues, will drive demand for in-vehicle applications. These applications will enhance the driving experience, provide useful information during commutes, and offer entertainment options for drivers and passengers.

Summer is upon us, and our partner Scuderia Ferrari HP is bringing the heat in the 2024 Formula 1 standings! With eight rounds completed, the team has racked up an impressive 252 points, nine podiums and two wins – and is just 24 points shy of the No. 1 position in the Constructor Standings!

Pervasive vehicle connectivity is becoming the norm. It serves a purpose far beyond the infotainment system, requiring as many as 14 antennas in a vehicle. The ubiquitous but mildly unattractive “shark fin” antenna that extrudes from the rear roof of many modern vehicles carries many of today’s connected services.

HARMAN recently launched a new version of the OTA solution to address E/E vehicle architectures and critical business requirements. The focus of the HARMAN OTA 12.0 release is to make OTA update workflows more secure and robust than ever before.

Along with all other upper applications based on VirtIO, HARMAN provides an enhanced environment to develop and validate an Automotive IVI.

Electrification is reshaping the automotive market. By 2030, around 130 million electric vehicles are expected to be on the road, as a result of evolving consumer demand, booming capital markets and government support in the form of direct subsidies and favorable regulation (Source: GlobeNewswire.com).

The automotive industry is undergoing a series of transformations fueled by technological disruptions. Among these changes is a shift to electrification, with the electric vehicle (EV) industry projected to make up an increasingly large proportion of the overall automotive market. In fact, based on current trends, a report conducted by Bloomberg New Energy Finance found that electric vehicles could make up 57% of worldwide passenger car sales by 2040.

Regulating technology advancement is a necessary process. As consumer habits change, hyper-connectivity is continuing to transform the automotive industry at a faster rate than ever before. This creates many opportunities for vehicle manufacturers, and we are seeing a lot of new technology arise as a result.

The automotive landscape is rapidly transforming. At the heart of this change is an ascending electric vehicle (EV) market fueled by an evolving consumer base, eco-friendly government interventions and technological advancements making the production of EVs more economically viable. According to the EPM Advisory Council Report, Experiences Per Mile 2030, Electric Vehicles will represent 24% of new cars sold by 2030. Also, the current administration in the United States Government is striving for a goal of 50% EVs sold in the US by 2030 to combat some of the effects of climate change. This is quite an increase from 3% of new cars sold today. Whatever the percentage growth, the sale of EVs is bound to increase substantially in the years to come.

HARMAN took a Bronze partner role this year at Ecomotion 2021, Israel. Among the highlights were the virtual panel discussion addressing 5G and the role it serves in V2X, electric vehicles and the future of infotainment and connectivity. In addition, we hosted an exclusive workshop "From Proof of Concept (POC) to a Multi-Million Dollar Deal".

Gaming is a big business. In 2020, the gaming industry was approximately $180 billion and grew 20% year-over-year, which makes gaming bigger than music and movie industries combined. And with 2.7 billion gamers globally, there are about twice as many gamers as there are vehicles on the road—an exciting opportunity for automakers.

The automotive world is looking to reduce accidents and fatalities in the future, and this road to zero-accident mobility will be paved by ADAS. Zero-accident mobility is a vision the mobility industry is set out to achieve—an outlook where road fatalities, injuries and accidents can be completely prevented. ADAS is going to have a large role in zero-accident mobility and ensuring vehicle passenger well-being.
