Intersection safety remains a major blind spot, and drivers are often forced to make split-second decisions with insufficient visibility or context. HARMAN Ready Aware, combined with Miovision’s traffic signal and intersection data, is a road-ready vehicle-to-network solution that provides drivers with beyond-line-of-sight awareness through timely, contextual in-vehicle alerts such as Red Light Assist. The Safety Challenge

​Intersections are where road users, infrastructure, and driver decisions converge, and where the limitations of reactive safety are most visible. They remain a major traffic safety concern across the United States. According to the data, one in four U.S. traffic fatalities is attributed to intersections, and one in three intersection-related fatalities occurs at signalized intersections. These figures highlight the ​urgent need for safer intersection design, improved signal management, and increased driver awareness to help reduce preventable deaths.

Cameras and onboard sensors remain essential, but they cannot reliably see through occlusions, anticipate signal phase changes, or convert city-side traffic intelligence into intuitive, OEM-branded cabin experiences on their own. 

That is why the next step in road safety is not simply more hardware. How Ready Aware Shifts the adoption model from V2X to V2N

​For years, the promise of V2X has been constrained by a structural adoption challenge. Meaningful coverage depends on parallel investment in roadside infrastructure and specialized in-vehicle communications hardware. This creates a cycle in which cities hesitate to invest without sufficient vehicle penetration, and automakers hesitate to commit without broad infrastructure coverage. The result has often been a patchwork of pilots, corridor deployments, long rollout timelines, fragmented coverage, and safety value that remains unrealized. Ready Aware offers a cost-effective and road-ready alternative with V2N by moving the emphasis away from hardware-dependent deployments and toward a hardware-agnostic software service delivered through the existing connected-car stack. Instead of waiting for synchronized roadside and vehicle infrastructure and investment cycles, Ready Aware leverages assets that OEMs and cities already have, including cloud backends, 4G and 5G connectivity, GNSS, vehicle telemetry, and live traffic signal data.  


Miovision’s existing traffic light infrastructure integrations across more than 70,000 intersections in eight countries provide the data foundation for Ready Aware to deliver automotive-grade, context-aware insights delivered directly inside the cabin without requiring specialized new in-vehicle hardware. This V2N approach enables deployment through OTA updates on existing connected vehicles while also supporting new production vehicles, allowing new use cases to roll out continuously rather than being tied to hardware changes. As a result, Ready Aware replaces a capital-heavy, region-by-region infrastructure model with a more scalable SaaS-based approach that can expand across regions, vehicle platforms, and vehicle volumes.



A software-defined path from infrastructure intelligence to driver awareness



The Ready Aware solution framework is a cloud-native, hardware-agnostic V2N platform that converts external mobility and connected-vehicle data into contextual in-vehicle safety alerts.  


The workflow begins with data collection from multiple sources, including the vehicle, traffic infrastructure, and road condition data providers. Ready Aware normalizes and fuses those inputs in the cloud, maps them to a digital representation of the road environment, and applies confidence logic to reduce noise, duplication, or low-quality events. Once an event is validated, the platform generates  a digital in-vehicle alert and sends it through the OEM’s existing connected-vehicle architecture. This approach avoids reliance on dedicated local V2X roadside hardware and future vehicle V2X hardware. The alert is then presented to the driver as a road alert, vehicle alert, or traffic light alert.  


In practical terms, Ready Aware acts as the intelligence layer that connects city data, map data, hazard data, and OEM vehicle data to the driver experience. The vehicle becomes both a receiver of safety intelligence and a contributor of contextual data. This allows OEMs to deploy more than 15 in-vehicle contextual alerts through software, support V2N-based Euro NCAP use cases, and scale the solution across regions and vehicle platforms using cloud services and OTA-capable connected-car infrastructure.  

What OEMs and cities gain when deployment becomes software-driven

A camera may recognize that a signal is red or yellow, but it cannot reliably predict when a phase is about to change or interpret trusted infrastructure intelligence outside the driver's field of view. Ready Aware's Red Light Assist use case shows the value of V2N in practical terms.
