This zone features a compact electric vehicle to showcase an economical solution that provides powerful user customization and personalization of life experiences across multiple ecosystems (home, car and on-the-go).

Unique features showcased at CES 2019 among many others are:

  • Smartphone-based connectivity leveraging projection-mode navigation that is displayed in both the center stack and cluster display, with ability to simultaneously control media

Based on a standalone Linux platform, the Entry Cockpit can be flexibly integrated into every vehicle line. This is made possible through the HARMAN Ignite cloud platform as well as the integration of leading phone projection services (BT, Wi-Fi, NFC) like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Consolidating the Entry Cockpit system into a single silver box saves up to 1 kg in weight depending on system configuration. Through silver-box consolidation, the expected runtime power consumption will be reduced by up to 4.0 A.

The Entry compute platform enables integration of up to two displays and a fully digital cluster. The solution enables improved time-to-market because AudioworX is pre-integrated onto the HARMAN platform. All provided audio solutions are scalable and upgradeable with integrated A2B audio amplifier expansions. This means automakers gain additional car-line flexibility and audio differentiation. 

 

Cockpit integration with HARMAN Ignite makes it easy to add new services from multiple virtual assistants, connect to more smart devices within the home and load a driver’s personalized preferences and content from their portable profiles.

 

HARMAN Ignite 3.0 coordinates vehicle-system interactions with the user, and interfaces with cloud content and services (e.g. prioritization of safety-related events). Simplified interactions enable handling of multiple information event sources and further ecosystems like IoT networks. Thus, the car bridges the gap between itself and all the user’s smart devices at home or anywhere else. Interoperation with virtual assistants and bots, handling input and real-time data processing enables a seamless and context-sensitive customer experience.

 

HARMAN’s Intelligent Reasoning Agent, IRA, is an abstraction layer that bridges multiple VPAs and vehicle related skills to perform specific task for the driver. For example, when asking for free time, IRA can leverage Google for private calendar and Siri for business calendar.

 

Turn-by-turn cluster navigation. HARMAN is the first in the industry to integrate projection-based turn-by-turn navigation within the cluster. The system leverages best-in-class navigation apps based on driver preference.

 

The HARMAN adaptive navigation drive system knows where the driver wants to be at what time and when. The route presented is tailor made for the driver – not the universally optimized route – and the more trips the system covers, the more it learns about the driver. The system grabs these data from calendars or personal assistants, drivers can also add stops to their routes based on tasks/requests from friends, family or colleagues. 

 

External Electronic Sound Synthesis (eESS) technology creates a specific electronic sound, projected from speakers at the front and rear of all-electric and hybrid vehicles to inform pedestrians of the vehicle’s speed and location and thus enhance their safety.
